Armani or Gucci wouldn't be caught dead at the Stonewood
Center, where Millers Outpost is the big name in designer clothing.
This is a low-rent but well-maintained mall that's extremely popular
with the locals. On weekends, the crowds of families and teenagers
are packed in to capacity among the clean and busy bargain shops.
Swing by "The Filling Station" (Stonewood's charmingly named
food court) for some fried bananas at Crazy Churro or a slice at
Sbarro. You'll have to dodge aggressive cell phone salespeople
trying to give you a "free" cell phone at every turn, but a trip to
the self- evident Wigs Today, or the kiosk selling talismans that
promise salud y amor, offers a unique shopping experience for anyone
who's grown tired of The Gap. -- Jennifer
