For cheap used books, Nused Books is a solid
choice, with walls full of enough inexpensive paperbacks to keep you
in summer reading for years. Nused doesn't have the usual romance of
a used bookstore -- no dust, no smell of rotting paper and old
bindings, but maybe that's a good thing. The space is lit with
bright fluorescent lights and strewn with boxes of unsorted
paperbacks, with a chair or two for those who must read the first
chapter before they buy a book. Take a pass on the stacks of
National Geographics, though. Doesn't everyone already have
some attracting mildew in a basement somewhere?
