Quality of Life
At the heart of all City of Hope activities is the credo:
There is no profit in curing the body if in the process we
destroy the soul. This philosophy underscores one of City of
Hope’s primary considerations: quality of life. Investigators under
the direction of Marcia Grant, RN, DNSc, and Betty Ferrell, RN, PhD,
FAAN, in the Department of Nursing Research and Education, have
initiated numerous multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed research
projects focusing on improving quality of life. In addition to
research on pain management, City of Hope also offers services for
patients such as image consulting for patients facing changes in
their appearance due to treatment, and psychosocial services such as
counseling.
